The Palms

Two-bedroom detached cottage in Cubert, 4 miles south-west of Newquay, with a private hot tub in the garden and a one-mile walk to the beach. Sleeps 4 in one king and one twin, with two bathrooms - a workable layout for two couples or a small family who want their own washroom.

The cottage is fitted out for outdoor living: enclosed garden, BBQ, and a hot tub for after the coast path. Two dogs are welcome, and guests get access to a shared 2-acre paddock a short walk away for off-lead exercise. There is a washing machine but no wifi and no dishwasher - check the kit list if those matter to you.

The walk west to Holywell Bay crosses National Trust grazing land, dropping you onto the long sandy beach with the Sloop and Twin Rocks tidal stacks at low water. Porth Joke is the same distance via the same footpath - quieter, no facilities, dog-friendly year round. Crantock is 1.9 km north-west across the Gannel. The Smugglers Den Inn at Trebellan, a 16th-century thatched pub, is a mile south. Newquay's Fistral surf and shops are 4 miles north.

Best for dog owners and couples who want a hot tub and a beach walk from the door. Less good for guests who need wifi for remote work.
