Carne Beach, a mile-long sheltered stretch on the Roseland Heritage Coast where dogs are welcome year-round, is 3.7km south. Porthluney Bay, backed by Caerhays Castle and its spring gardens, is 3.9km away. Portloe itself is one of the least altered fishing villages on the Roseland - crab and lobster boats still work from the small harbour - and the coast path runs through the village along Veryan Bay.
