The layout runs over two floors with one bathroom, an open fire in the sitting room, and a kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine. Wifi throughout. Dogs are welcome. There is no on-site parking - guests use the village car park a short walk uphill, which is the trade-off for being this close to the slipway.

The enclosed front garden has furniture and looks down across the village to the bay. An elevated grass plot at the rear belongs to the cottage too. The South West Coast Path passes through Portloe - east four miles to Nare Head and Caerhays Castle, west three miles to Carne Beach via Veryan. Veryan's five thatched round houses sit two miles inland. St Mawes is 8 miles south-west by road for the Falmouth passenger ferry; Caerhays Castle gardens are at their best for magnolias in March and April.

Best for a couple or small family who want a working fishing village and don't need a car parked outside. Less good if you need step-free access from the parking - the village is steep and on cobbles in places.
