Goonhavern

Holiday park village between Newquay and Perranporth

Goonhavern is a village on the A3075 between Newquay (6 miles north) and Perranporth (3 miles west). The village is home to several holiday parks, including Silverbow Park and Monkey Tree Holiday Park, which have made it a popular base for family holidays. A small commercial area along the main road includes a pub, a fish and chip shop, and a convenience store.

Perranporth’s 3-mile sandy beach is the nearest coast, about a 5-minute drive west. The beach has consistent surf, a large tidal pool, and is backed by dunes and the Perranporth Airfield. Holywell Bay, another popular family beach with sand dunes and a blowhole, is about 4 miles north. The World Heritage mining sites around St Agnes and Chapel Porth are about 5 miles south along the coast.

Goonhavern’s central location makes it practical for day trips in multiple directions. Newquay’s attractions (zoo, aquarium, surf beaches) are 15 minutes north. Truro, the county’s only city, with its cathedral and shops, is about 20 minutes southeast. The Eden Project is about 30 minutes east. The village itself is not a destination in its own right, but its proximity to beaches and main roads, combined with lower accommodation costs than the coastal villages, makes it a pragmatic choice.
