Perranuthnoe Beach is 3km away, a sandy south-facing cove with a seasonal beach cafe, a car park above the dunes, and easier swimming conditions than the exposed Atlantic-facing beaches to the north. Prussia Cove is 3.5km for rock pool exploration at low tide. Both beaches sit on the South West Coast Path, which runs east to Praa Sands and west towards Marazion and St Michael's Mount.

St Michael's Mount is under 5 miles. The tidal causeway is walkable for around 3 hours either side of low tide, and the National Trust castle opens most days between late spring and mid-autumn. Porthleven is around 6 miles west along the coast - a working harbour with a concentration of independent restaurants around the inner quay. Helston, 4 miles inland, has a regular market and independent shops.

This cottage suits couples who want a quieter base away from the surf-beach crowds and are happy doing most of their coast time on the path or at smaller coves. Two dogs are welcome, which is unusual at this price point and size. Less good for those wanting sea views from the property, or groups of more than two - the single bedroom means there is no flexibility on numbers.
