Tinners Forge

Tinners Forge is a one-bedroom couples' cottage above Pentewan, built on the site of the Great Polgooth Tin Mine. The cottage sits in an elevated position on the owners' smallholding, refurbished as a quiet retreat for two with accessible ground-floor entry.

Inside, the layout is one bedroom, one bathroom, and an open living and kitchen space with wifi and the basics for a week away. The interior is compact and geared to couples rather than larger groups. Outside, there is private parking and a garden that makes use of the rural setting. Two small or medium dogs are welcome.

A short walk downhill leads to the 16th-century Polgooth Inn for meals, with the village's general store and post office in easy reach. Pentewan Beach and Porthpean are 3 miles south. The Eden Project, Pinetum Gardens, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and Trewithen all lie within a 7-mile radius. Mevagissey harbour and Charlestown are roughly 10 minutes' drive.

Best for couples wanting a rural Cornwall base with one good village pub on the doorstep and the south-coast beaches a short drive off. Less good for groups - it sleeps two only, and the setting is working farmland rather than seaside village.
