The RSPB Hayle Estuary reserve is a short walk from Phillack, with wildfowl and wading birds year-round. St Ives is 8 miles by road.

The accessible ground-floor layout - walk-in shower, level threshold from parking to front door - makes this one of the few coastal annexes in the Hayle area suited to guests with limited mobility. The fire pit in the enclosed garden extends the usable outdoor season into autumn. Hayle town centre has supermarkets within a mile for self-catering supplies.
