The Great Flat Lode cycling trail, part of the National Cycle Network, runs close to Illogan and connects into the wider Redruth area. Godrevy Beach - 9.6km - is wider and more exposed, with the lighthouse visible from the sand.

Best for walkers and cyclists who want a quiet inland base with good access to the north Cornwall coast. Less good for those after a beach-walk-from-the-door location or who need to be within walking distance of a town centre.
