Kingsand Beach, next door, is reached along the narrow lanes that link the two villages. Whitsand Bay, with its long stretch of south-facing surf beach, is around four miles west by road.

Cawsand and Kingsand sit within the Rame Peninsula, part of the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and often called Cornwall's forgotten corner. The villages share a cluster of pubs, a bakery and a handful of cafes, with the Cawsand ferry running across Plymouth Sound to the Barbican in summer. Mount Edgcumbe Country Park lies just to the north, and the Eden Project is around an hour's drive west.
