Polzeath is a surf village centred on a wide sandy beach that produces consistent, beginner-friendly waves. Several surf schools operate between Easter and October. The village has a Co-op, a deli, and restaurants including the Oyster Catcher. Rock is 2 miles south, and the water taxi from Rock to Padstow runs in season.
