Boscastle harbour is a short walk from the cottage - the narrow tidal inlet set between cliffs that rise to over 100 metres on each side. The harbour was rebuilt after the flash flood of August 2004, and the Museum of Witchcraft and Magic on the waterfront is one of the most visited sites on the north Cornwall coast. The village has a pub, post office, and National Trust visitor centre.

Bossiney Cove Beach is 4.1km south along the coast, a sand and rock beach accessible via a steep path from the cliff top. Crackington Haven Beach, set in a dramatic folded-cliff cove, is 6.8km to the north. Both involve notable cliff walking from the village.

Best for couples or solo walkers who want a base inside a working village on the Arthurian coast, with a pub and shops within a few minutes on foot. Less good for guests wanting direct beach access, as the nearest beaches - Bossiney Cove at 4.1km and Crackington Haven at 6.8km - require a drive or a significant cliff walk.
