Captains Cottage

Captain's Cottage is a four-bedroom cottage in the centre of St Mawes, set over three floors and sleeping up to 7. The village beach is 0.2 km away, with Little Great Molunan Beach 1.5 km and Castle Beach 2.9 km along the coast. On-site parking is included - a genuine advantage in a village where spaces fill quickly in summer.

The cottage sits within walking distance of pubs, restaurants and local shops. The Hotel Tresanton and the Idle Rocks - both well-regarded restaurants - are nearby, and the harbour waterfront has several good cafes. A sailing club in the village offers temporary membership.

Outside, St Mawes is at the tip of the Roseland, looking across the Carrick Roads to Falmouth. A year-round passenger ferry makes the crossing to Falmouth without the long drive around. A second ferry crosses the Percuil River to St Anthony in the summer months. St Mawes Castle, built by Henry VIII as a companion to Pendennis Castle opposite, sits right on the waterfront.

The Roseland beyond the village is a quiet stretch of lanes, farms and subtropical gardens. The church of St Just in Roseland, noted for its riverside subtropical churchyard, is a few minutes by car. The coast path here is gentler than the north coast, with sheltered coves and wooded estuaries.
