Portreath Beach is 8.4km north - a wide sandy bay with a reliable surf break and a pub directly on the seafront. Trevaunance Cove at St Agnes is 9.4km, and Truro is a 15-minute drive east, with a street market twice a week and Cornwall's only cathedral.

Best for dog-owning couples or small groups wanting a quiet mid-Cornwall base with private hot tub access. Less suited to anyone expecting beach-walk distance - both coasts require a short drive from here. Saturday changeover.
