Single-storey one-bedroom cottage on Atlantic Farm, 1.5 miles south of Bude. Sleeps two in one double, with a shower room and open-plan living space. The position on the Atlantic Highway means car-and-go for any of the north coast beaches.

The cottage is set up for couples or solo travellers with dogs - up to three are welcome. Enclosed garden with lawn, patio and barbecue for evenings outdoors. Wifi, dishwasher and washing machine included. Friday changeovers only. No wood burner and no sea view, so this is a base rather than a view-from-the-sofa stay.

Summerleaze Beach is 2.2km away, with the free tidal sea pool carved into the rocks - swimmable on any tide once filled. Crooklets Beach sits at 2.8km for surf, and Widemouth Bay at 3.6km has the longest sand and a beginner surf school. Northcott Mouth, where the rusted ribs of the SS Belem still emerge at low tide, is a short drive north. The South West Coast Path runs through Bude in both directions, and the 19th-century Bude Canal gives flat walking inland from the harbour.

Best for couples or solo dog-walkers wanting a quiet farm setting with quick beach access. Less good for groups, families with young children, or anyone wanting to walk into town for dinner - it's a 25-minute walk or short drive.
