Bokiddick

Bokiddick is a farming hamlet in the parish of Lanivet, set among rolling countryside roughly 3 miles southwest of Bodmin. The hamlet consists of a handful of farms, and the surrounding land falls within a nature conservation area with views across open moorland and wooded valleys.

The area carries real archaeological weight. An Iron Age hut circle has been recorded at Bokiddick, and nearby Helman Tor - a prominent granite ridge - features a hillfort with a single defensive bank dating from the same period. Walkers heading up to Helman Tor pass through a landscape shaped by thousands of years of human settlement.

Bokiddick sits just 2 miles from the A30, giving straightforward access to both coasts. The Eden Project is around 5 miles to the south, and Lanhydrock House and Gardens - a National Trust property with over 50 rooms and 900 acres of grounds - lies about 3 miles east. The village of Lanivet, with its pub (the Lanivet Inn) and parish church, is the nearest settlement for everyday supplies. Bodmin town centre is a short drive for larger shops and services. For holiday visitors, the hamlet’s central position makes day trips to the north coast surf beaches and south coast harbours equally convenient - Padstow and Fowey are each within half an hour’s drive.
