The Eden Project, housed in former china clay pits, is 11 miles south near St Austell.

The rewilded grounds include wildflower meadow and a pond that attracts swallows - the cottage name refers to the birds that nest there each summer. The A30 is close, giving access to Truro in under 30 minutes and Penzance in under an hour. The Lost Gardens of Heligan are 15 miles southeast, a draw for garden visitors in any season.

Good for couples who want a rural, wildlife-facing base in central Cornwall with easy reach of both coasts and mid-Cornwall attractions. Works for EV drivers who need a charge point at the property. Not ideal for guests who want to walk to the beach daily - at nearly 10km, the nearest coast is firmly a drive, not a walk.
