Rosewin Farmhouse is a three-bedroom farmhouse for six near St Minver, the inland village three miles north of Wadebridge that gives you the Camel Estuary coast without paying Rock or Padstow rates. Three bathrooms, an open fire, and an enclosed garden. Dogs welcome.

The layout suits two families or a group of friends - three bedrooms upstairs with three bathrooms, parking for two cars on site. Sitting room with open fire for the shoulder seasons. Dishwasher, washing machine, and Wi-Fi included. Friday changeover.

The location is rural but unfussy. Polzeath is 5km north for surf and a long, dog-friendly low-tide flat. Daymer Bay is the same distance and the calmer family choice. Rock is three miles west - the foot ferry hops across to Padstow for the Stein scene and the harbour. The Camel Trail runs flat and traffic-free for 18 miles from Padstow through Wadebridge to Bodmin Moor; the Wadebridge entry point is six minutes by car. St Enodoc Church sits in the dunes between Rock and Daymer with John Betjeman's grave.

Best for groups wanting a dog-friendly base in walking-and-beach country at a sensible price. Less good for guests who want to walk to a pub - this is a working-village setting and you'll need the car.
