Three-bedroom cottage on the St Mellion Estate in south-east Cornwall, sleeping 6 across the resort's 450-acre grounds. The on-site health club, three pools, spa, gym and Nicklaus Course are all included. Saltash sits 6 miles east for supermarkets; Callington 3.5 miles north for shops.

Single-level layout with one open-plan living, kitchen and dining room under timber-clad ceilings. Patio doors run off both lounge and bedrooms onto a private terrace with garden furniture and BBQ. Three king-size zip-and-link bedrooms convert to twins on request; two have en-suite shower rooms and the third an en-suite bath. Kitchen is fully fitted with electric oven, hob, dishwasher and washing machine. Off-road parking for two cars.

The Estate is 4 miles west of Cotehele, the National Trust's Tudor manor and quay on the River Tamar, and 12 miles from Plymouth via the Tamar Bridge. Looe is 15.5 miles south on the coast and Whitsand Bay 14km for swimming and the South West Coast Path. Dartmoor National Park is 13 miles east. The Tamar Valley National Landscape (formerly AONB) wraps the area.

Best for golfing groups, multi-generation family stays wanting pool and spa access, and dog owners (2 max). Less good for guests after a quiet rural retreat - this is one of a numbered cluster on a working hotel-and-golf resort, so expect other guests, evening restaurant trade and shared paths.
