Point Break

Point Break is a five-bedroom detached house in Polzeath on the north Cornish coast, sleeping 10 across four bathrooms. It sits above the village in an elevated position with an enclosed garden and off-road parking for multiple vehicles. Dogs are welcome.

Inside, the house has both a wood burner and open fire - useful for shoulder-season stays when Polzeath's northerly aspect brings sharp evenings. The kitchen has a dishwasher and the house has Wi-Fi and a washing machine throughout. The BBQ on the terrace works well for summer groups. Four bathrooms across five bedrooms means less queuing for large parties.

Polzeath Beach is 700 metres on foot - wide sand that holds a consistent swell and has lifeguard cover in summer. The South West Coast Path to Pentire Point starts at the village edge. Greenaway Beach is 1.2km and Daymer Bay 1.6km, both quieter alternatives when Polzeath fills up. Rock is a short drive across the estuary, and Padstow with its fish restaurants is under 10 miles south.

Best for: groups of up to 10, surfers, families with dogs. Less good for: guests needing sea views or a hot tub, or those wanting to avoid summer crowds on the beach.
