Pebbles

Pebbles is a two-bedroom ground-floor apartment in Downderry on Cornwall's south-east coast, 400 metres from the village's south-facing sandy beach. The accessible layout sleeps four, with one king-size bedroom with en-suite bath and shower, and a second twin bedroom. No dogs are accepted.

The open-plan living area has electric underfloor heating throughout, keeping the ground floor warm year-round. Kitchen facilities are full-spec with a dishwasher. There are two bathrooms in total, off-road parking, and an enclosed garden. No hot tub, BBQ, or wood burner.

Downderry beach faces south, stays calm enough for swimming rather than surfing, and rarely gets crowded even at peak summer. Low tide reveals wide firm sand that extends towards Seaton. East Looe Beach is 5.9 km, and Plaidy Beach 4.9 km. Plymouth is about 30 minutes away across the Tamar Bridge, and the Rame Peninsula - one of Cornwall's least-visited corners - begins just to the east.

Best for: wheelchair users or those with limited mobility wanting beach access at a gentle pace; families or mixed-age groups who want reliable, calm swimming conditions in a quiet village. Less good for: dog owners or guests wanting to surf - no dogs allowed and the beach is not a surf spot.
