The hot tub and patio are the main outdoor features - a practical draw given the valley's wooded, sheltered position.

The Tamar Valley AONB covers the river corridor north and south of Saltash, with a network of footpaths through old orchards and riverside woodland. The valley was historically mined for copper and arsenic, and the industrial heritage is visible in the chimneys and engine houses scattered along the hillsides - notably at Morwellham Quay further north.

Whitsand Bay is 5.7km south - a 3-mile stretch of sand at the foot of high cliffs, accessible via steep paths at several points along its length. Downderry Beach and Kingsand Beach are both 8.1km. Kingsand, a village on the Rame Peninsula with a small sandy foreshore and a pub, is one of the more atmospheric spots on this quieter south-eastern stretch of Cornwall.

Saltash itself is directly across the Tamar Bridge from Plymouth. The road bridge runs alongside Brunel's Royal Albert Railway Bridge, completed in 1859 and still in regular use. Plymouth is 5 minutes by car and has full city amenities.
