The peninsula is one of the quieter corners of east Cornwall, without the volume of visitors the north coast gets in summer.

Saltash, the first town in Cornwall at the Tamar crossing, is a few minutes north with a weekly market and independent shops. Plymouth is just over the bridge for bigger retail and the Brittany Ferries service to Roscoff. The Tamar Valley AONB runs between the two for walking and cycling.
