Mermaid Cottage

Mermaid Cottage is a three-floor fisherman's cottage on Commercial Road in Mousehole, a granite-built village 3 miles south of Penzance arranged around a harbour protected by a 14th-century breakwater. The cottage overlooks the harbour and sits 100m from the beach.

The ground floor has an open-plan living space with a kitchen, dining area, and sitting area warmed by a woodburning stove. Upstairs, three bedrooms include a king-size on the second floor, a zip-and-link twin that converts to a super-king, and a bunk room for children up to 12 years. The bathroom has a freestanding bath, a walk-in rainfall shower, and a heated towel rail. Underfloor heating in the bathroom and a wine chiller in the kitchen add practical touches.

There is no private parking - street parking or a nearby car park are the options, typical for Mousehole's narrow lanes. As a traditional fisherman's cottage, the stairs are steeper and narrower than modern builds.

Mousehole Beach, a sheltered sandy harbour beach with calm water, is a short walk away. Lamorna Cove, a rocky inlet with clear water for snorkelling, lies 3.1km along the South West Coast Path. The village has the Ship Inn, a handful of restaurants, art galleries, and the Mousehole Wild Bird Hospital, founded in 1928.
