Elm

Elm is a detached, all-ground-floor chalet at Killiow Golf Club near Truro, sleeping six across three bedrooms. Every room sits on one level, with wide doorways and walk-in shower access throughout - a practical choice for guests with limited mobility or anyone who finds stairs a problem.

All three bedrooms are super-king doubles (zip-link, convertible to twins). Two have en-suite walk-in showers with basin and WC; the third uses the main wet room. The open-plan kitchen, dining, and sitting area centres on a wood-burning stove, and a separate open fire adds a second heat source. Washer-dryer, dishwasher, and 4K Smart TV with Freeview are included. Bath robes and a wood burner starter pack are provided.

The enclosed decked garden has outdoor furniture and off-road parking is on site. Castle Beach in Falmouth - sand and shingle at the foot of Pendennis Castle, with snorkelling offshore - is 10km south. St Mawes beach on the Roseland, next to Henry VIII's best-preserved coastal fort, is also 10km. Pendower Beach, a National Trust-managed two-mile stretch on the Roseland, is 10.2km.

Truro's Gothic Revival cathedral and the independent shops along Lemon Street are a short drive north. The chalet does not accept dogs.

Best for: groups of six wanting accessible, country-quiet accommodation with easy reach of both the Roseland and Truro. Less good for: beach-first holidays - the nearest sand is a 10km drive.
