Chough House Porthcurno

Chough House is a three-storey, five-bedroom cottage in Porthcurno Valley, sleeping 12 across three king-size and two triple rooms. Porthcurno beach is 500m on foot down the valley lane; the Minack Theatre is 1km in the same direction. Parking for five cars on the driveway means the car stays put once you arrive.

Ground floor layout is unusually well-equipped for a large group: a gym with cardio equipment and a rainfall shower occupies one wing, a full-size pool table sits in the games room opposite, and a stair lift runs alongside the hand-built staircase. The first floor opens into a wide open-plan living area with exposed structural beams, a veranda running the full width of the building, and a bespoke kitchen set up for cooking at scale. One king-size bedroom also sits on this floor; four more bedrooms and four shower rooms fill the top floor.

Outside, a terrace steps down from the kitchen to a lawned garden with an open-sided summerhouse and archway seating. The view over the stone wall is farmland. EV charging is on the driveway. The South West Coast Path passes through Porthcurno and runs west to Land’s End (3.5 miles) and east to Mousehole (8 miles).

Best for groups of 8-12 who want a self-contained base for west Penwith - strong kitchen and outdoor space make it work for multi-generational stays. Less good for those wanting an evening out within walking distance; Penzance is 8.5 miles by road.
