Antony
Rame Peninsula village with Antony House
Antony is a village and civil parish on the Rame Peninsula in south-east Cornwall, about 5 miles west of Plymouth via the Torpoint Ferry. The village is best known for Antony House, an 18th-century National Trust property considered one of the finest Georgian houses in Cornwall. The estate grounds include formal gardens, woodland walks along the tidal creek, and a modern sculpture garden. The house was used as a filming location for Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland (2010).
The Rame Peninsula, sometimes called Cornwall’s forgotten corner, has quiet lanes, coastal walking on the South West Coast Path, and views across Plymouth Sound. The beaches at Whitsand Bay are about 3 miles to the south. Torpoint, the nearest town, is about 2 miles east and provides a regular car ferry to Plymouth.
