Pendeen is a former tin-mining village on the northwest tip of the Penwith peninsula. The Geevor Tin Mine museum - which preserves the surface and underground workings of one of the last operational mines in Cornwall - is within a short drive and open to visitors throughout the year. Levant Mine, a National Trust property on the cliff edge, is similarly close. Both are among the more historically significant industrial sites in the county.

Priest's Cove at Cape Cornwall is 4.1km. It is a small, rocky cove accessed via a short cliff path and is one of the few remaining working fishing coves on this stretch of coastline. Gwynver Beach, a quieter surf beach north of Sennen, is 7.2km.

The village has a post office, a shop, and a pub. The B3306 coastal road runs nearby, connecting Pendeen to St Just to the south and Zennor to the east. St Just is the nearest market town with a wider range of services.
