The Rhodes

The Rhodes is a three-bedroom accessible cottage in Charlestown, sleeping up to six across four bathrooms. The village was built in the 1790s by Charles Rashleigh to export copper and china clay, and the Georgian harbour is one of the most intact in Cornwall - regularly used as a filming location for Poldark and other period productions. The beach is 200m from the front door.

The open-plan kitchen-diner runs a dining table for six, electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, Nespresso machine, and dishwasher. Three bedrooms are arranged across the property with an accessible layout throughout. Wi-Fi and parking are included. There is no washing machine and no BBQ on site. Weekly rates start from £959.

A patio garden sits at the rear with space for outdoor seating. Charlestown Beach is a sheltered shingle-and-sand cove at the base of the harbour, well-protected from the prevailing westerlies. Carlyon Bay - a longer sandy beach - is 0.9km east along the coast road. St Austell train station is within walking distance of the village, with direct services to Truro in around 15 minutes and onwards to Penzance. The Eden Project is roughly 4 miles by road.

Best for families or groups wanting a historic village base with the beach close, accessible sleeping, and the option to travel by train. Less good for those wanting a remote rural setting, a hot tub, or a large garden.
