The Beach Lodge

The Beach Lodge is a three-bedroom lodge at Porthpean, the former gate lodge to Porthpean House, within walking distance of the beach. It sleeps six in a double, twin and bunk bedroom, with dogs welcome and private parking included.

Inside, the lodge has two bathrooms, a dishwasher, washing machine and wifi throughout. The layout keeps traditional features from the original building alongside updated interiors, with the open-plan living space forming the centre of the property. The ground floor is accessible.

Outside, the sandy, sheltered beach at Porthpean sits a short stroll down the hill, with the 18th-century harbour at Charlestown a mile along the South West Coast Path. Charlestown itself, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its role as a surviving Georgian-era port, has pubs, restaurants, cafes and a playground. St Austell, the nearest town, is 10 minutes by car.

The Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan are both within a 15-minute drive, as are the coastal villages of Mevagissey (5 miles) and Fowey (8 miles). For cyclists, the Pentewan Trail runs from Pentewan inland through St Austell and is a popular route for families, with bike hire available at Pentewan.
