Lowena is a stone-built three-bedroom cottage on Church Street in Tywardreath village, sleeping up to five. Tywardreath is a quiet inland village above Par, far enough from the coast to be genuinely calm in high season, close enough to reach Carlyon Bay in under 10 minutes by car. The cottage is rated four stars.

Inside, three bedrooms share a single bathroom - workable for a family or small group on a budget-conscious break. A wood burner in the living room extends the property's useful season into autumn and winter. The kitchen includes a dishwasher and Wi-Fi is included throughout. There is no washing machine, so longer stays will need a plan for laundry.

The enclosed garden sits off the back of the cottage - a useful outdoor space in a village terrace where most properties have nothing at all. The village shop and pub are a one-minute walk on Church Street. No parking comes with the cottage, so guests use the village street or travel via Par station, which has direct trains on the Paddington main line.

Carlyon Bay beach is 4.5km away, with Readymoney Cove near Fowey at 4.6km and Charlestown beach at 5.4km. The Eden Project is roughly 4 miles to the north-west.

Best for: families or small groups wanting a quiet village base at a lower price point than coastal cottages. Less good for: couples expecting self-contained comfort, or anyone needing on-site parking or a washing machine.
