Lilliput

Lilliput is a one-bedroom house for two in Mabe, a village outside Falmouth in south Cornwall. One of three converted cottages in the Trenoweth Vean row (alongside Tom Thumb and Thumbelina), it sits in an elevated rural position with countryside views.

Inside, sleeping is in a king-size bed with a kitchen, bathroom and living space laid out for a couple. The conversion keeps the character of the original farm buildings and adds double glazing for year-round use. Wifi runs throughout, along with dishwasher, washing machine and accessible access. Dogs are welcome. A rating of 9.6 from 10 reviews places it well among similar rural rentals.

Outside, a low-walled patio garden sits at the front with a shared lawned garden and drying area at the rear. Parking is included, one space per property. Mabe village lies half a mile away with a post office store and a pub serving food. The sandy beaches of Falmouth Bay sit about 5 miles distant.

Falmouth is a 10-minute drive for the National Maritime Museum and Pendennis Castle. Argal Reservoir and Stithians Lake both lie within a short drive for walks, sailing and kayaking. The gardens of Penjerrick, Glendurgan and Trebah on the Helford River are within 15 minutes. Prices start from GBP 423 per week with Saturday changeovers.
