Mousehole Beach lies 2.3 km south - a sheltered harbour beach with calm water suited to families. Eastern Green Beach in Penzance is 3.6 km north, offering shallow water and views across to St Michael's Mount.

Newlyn remains England's highest-value fishing port, with beam trawlers and crabbers working the harbour around the clock. Jelbert's ice cream has been made here since 1938. The coast path south to Mousehole covers 1.5 miles, and Penzance station - with mainline rail connections - is about a 10-minute walk via the promenade. The Newlyn Art Gallery on New Road continues the tradition of the 1880s Newlyn School painters.
