Lowender (formerly Lowender Peran) is Cornwall’s inter-Celtic festival, running since 1978. Three days of concerts, ceilidhs, workshops, sessions, storytelling, and a craft market celebrate the shared heritage of the six Celtic nations - Cornwall, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Brittany, and the Isle of Man.
The festival is a champion of the Cornish language and Celtic identity, bringing together musicians, dancers, and storytellers from across the Celtic world. Evening concerts and daytime workshops cater to both spectators and participants.
Originally based in Newquay, the festival moved to Redruth in 2024 and returns in 2026 after taking a break in 2025. One of the few events that fills Cornwall’s autumn calendar after the food festivals finish.
Where to Stay
The festival is in Redruth. Carn Brea is a couples’ cottage with a hot tub. Falmouth and Truro are both within 20 minutes. lowender.co.uk
