Pedn Vounder

Pedn Vounder

penzance

On Cornwall’s southern coast near Porthcurno and the village of Treen, Pedn Vounder is a cliff-backed cove known for its turquoise tidal lagoons, golden sand at low tide, and the steep scramble required to reach it.

With broad sandbanks visible at low tide, Pedn Vounder offers a combination of golden sand and polished pebbles against a backdrop of towering cliffs and rocky outcrops. Natural lagoons and small ponds made possible by the beach’s distinctive tidal patterns are ideal for swimming and canoeing. The pristine surroundings and glistening blue seas create a calm and beautiful setting that is perfect for unwinding and discovering the variety of marine life in the tidal pools.

It can be difficult to get to Pedn Vounder because it requires a steep, occasionally slick descent from the surrounding rocks. Because of the relative difficulty in reaching it, the beach is frequently less crowded than other well-known beaches in Cornwall, adding to its quiet and untainted appearance. Above the beach, the South West Coast Path links Pedn Vounder to other coastal landmarks including Logan Rock and the Minack Theatre. The combination of the steep access path, clear lagoon water, and towering cliffs makes this one of the most distinctive coves on the far west Cornish coast.
