Little & Great Molunan Beach
Located on the Roseland close to St Mawes in Cornwall, Little and Great Molunan Beaches are two serene, gorgeous beaches renowned for their pristine natural surroundings, crystal-clear waters, and tranquil mood. These twin coves are ideal for those seeking a quiet coastal spot with access to the South West Coast Path. Little Molunan and Great Molunan sit at the base of St Anthony Head, a promontory with broad views across Falmouth Bay and the entrance to the Carrick Roads. Little Molunan is a smaller, more private cove with comparable features to Great Molunan, the larger of the two beaches, which has a sandy beachfront with areas of pebbles and boulders.
Visitors can enjoy a range of recreational activities at Little and Great Molunan Beaches, including sunbathing, beach games, and building sandcastles. Kids and nature lovers who love exploring the exposed rock pools at low tide and finding crabs, starfish, and other marine life will find hours of enjoyment in the abundant marine life. Visitors can explore the underwater world by swimming and snorkeling in the tranquil waters. The sheltered waves provide an enjoyable and safe setting for paddling the shoreline, making popular activities like kayaking and paddleboarding viable.
The South West Coast Path runs along the cliffs above the beaches, with good views of the sea and the surrounding Roseland landscape. These trails connect to other nearby beaches and coves, providing opportunities for longer hikes and exploration of the beautiful the Roseland. The place is relatively undeveloped, preserving its natural and untouched charm. There are no public toilets, cafes, or commercial amenities directly at the beaches, so visitors should come prepared with their own supplies and beach essentials. Access to the beaches is via a steep and sometimes challenging footpath from the car park at St. Anthony Head, which may not be suitable for everyone but adds to the sense of adventure and seclusion.
